Activities & Clubs
There is a wealth of sports clubs and leisure activities across the Caithness and Sutherland region to keep you fit and active.
These range from golf, football and rugby to pony trekking and clay pigeon shooting. Whatever your choice of activity, Caithness has something for you. There’s plenty to do for the whole family, kids and adults alike.
Sport is an important part of life in Caithness. As well as Wick Academy – the most northerly club in the Scottish Highland Football League – we have a number of enthusiastic local amateur teams. We don’t just play football, though – you can always enjoy a game of rugby or shinty or try your hand at martial arts. We even have a basketball team!
For those of you who like your sports a little more sedate, why not visit one of our many excellent bowling greens, play a round on one of our beautiful golf courses or relax and enjoy some of the best salmon fishing in Scotland?
The magnificent coastline naturally plays its part too, with maritime activities including wildlife boat tours and white water RIB trips to name but two.
The Caithness Sports Council, meanwhile, exists to promote sport, publicise and promote events, encourage cooperation between sporting clubs and maximise the use of sports facilities in Caithness.
