In Caithness and North Sutherland, big name shops rub shoulders with local, independent retailers making our town centres unique with a large variety of quality goods. We’re incredibly proud of our award winning bakeries, butchers and fish mongers which are still very present in our high streets.
There’s no need to worry about shopping online in Caithness as our impressive independent retailers and entrepreneurs have found unique and personal ways to offer products and services local people require.
From pop up shops to bespoke fashion and accessories to the fantastic customer service available you simply don’t get the same shopping experience anywhere else.
For the times you do find yourself requiring an online service, Highland Parcels offer a delivery service giving a guaranteed delivery to your local depot for under £5.
As well as shopping for the perfect gift or clothing items, The North Highlands is well serviced by leading supermarkets. Both towns, Wick and Thurso offer a Tesco, Co-Op and Lidl store which are open from early morning to late evening. The area is serviced by Tesco and ASDA home delivery services too.
Thurso is home to a range of shops offering quality products. From gift shops to clothing and outdoor wear to homeware and home supplies. The local pop up shop offers a physical, temporary space to entrepreneurs who are looking to test the market or launch a new product line meaning there is often new and exciting things happening on the high street.
One of the long standing shops in the town centre, Eye Candy offers a section of their shop to local makers. Named ‘The Caithness Corner’ it promotes quality items made locally in the North Highlands and gives local makers and artists a place to showcase and sell their work.
Wick boasts more chain stores than Thurso and is also home to many independent outlets including a weekly outdoor market with exciting plans for expansion throughout 2020. Wick retail park houses many familiar retailers including Argos, Pets at Home, Superdrug and New Look.
Wick town centre is also home to a range of independent retailers, with everything from a traditional butcher’s shop to jewellery and gifts. A range of initiatives are also being undertaken to celebrate and breathe new life into the centre, led by Wick’s Heart, the Community Development Trust for the town.
