Fresh ingredients are the basis of any great recipe. Hotels and restaurants in Caithness and North Sutherland have the good fortune to be able to draw on the best of what one of the Highlands’ richest natural larders has to offer - from freshly caught local fish, local beef and lamb to fruit and vegetables.
The region, one of the cleanest and most spectacular natural environments in Europe, produces local food bursting with flavour.
From award-winning fish restaurants to award-winning bakers, the region has an abundance of food producers supplying top quality produce not only locally but far and wide, some supplying major supermarket chains.
Food producers in the area include Mey Selections, with Royal approval, supplying Sainsbury’s; Caithness Biscuits, a Tesco local supplier and producer of a range of biscuits for the chef Nick Nairn and Reid’s of Caithness, Great Taste Award winner for the third year running.
