Food & Drink
The production of quality food and drink has become synonymous with Caithness and North Sutherland. This has only come about as the area possesses a clean, fresh natural environment, a precursor for the production of first class food and drink with real taste and flavour.
North Highland Products Ltd has successfully established Mey Selections as a premier food and drink brand selling produce which has its origins or has been produced in this area. As a result of North Highland Initiative being set up by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, the brand has acted as a catalyst for growth for a number of producers in the area.

As well as its renowned reputation for high-quality food, the Caithness and Sutherland area is also home to the producers of a variety of award-winning beverages, including such staples as Old Pulteney whisky, Berry Good fruit infused spirits, and the far north’s first gin and vodka, Rock Rose and Holy Grass, from Dunnet Bay Distillers. New whisky distillery, Wolfburn, in Thurso and an in-production brewery at John O’Groats also look set to become excellent additions to the growing Caithness drinks industry.
